Project Development

Turning ideas into viable projects.

A good idea is not yet a good project. Technical feasibility, commercial benefits, financing, resources and timing must fit together. What looks convincing at the concept stage may prove difficult or uneconomic under real operating conditions. Some of the costliest misjudgements are made long before implementation begins.

Favoso helps develop, assess and deliver complex projects, from commercial and technical assessment through concepts and investment decisions to operational project management and handover. We also join projects already under way when new requirements, changing conditions or implementation difficulties call for additional experience and responsibility.

Assess first. Invest second.

Before committing substantial resources, critical questions must be answered: What should be achieved? What alternatives exist? Which technical, financial and organisational requirements must be met? Where are the dependencies, and how reliable are the assumptions?

We develop and compare options, evaluate investments and examine their consequences for subsequent operations. Where appropriate, we use our own analysis and simulation models to explore capacities, production processes, resource requirements and costs under different conditions. The distinction between what is theoretically possible and what can realistically be achieved is essential.

Responsible project development also means being willing to question the chosen approach. If the conditions do not support it, we say so. Changing course or deciding not to pursue a project can make better commercial sense than simply continuing with the original plan.

Experience across disciplines.

Our project experience ranges from building early internet and telecommunications infrastructure and developing major data centres to complex industrial and production projects. It includes plant expansions, site and production relocations, recovery after operational disruptions and changes that must be implemented while business continues.

Such projects involve more than coordinating schedules and responsibilities. Technical planning, commercial design, financing, permits, external partners and operating requirements all influence one another. We know these relationships from first-hand experience, from planning and construction through conversion and commissioning to continued operations. What counts is not the isolated optimisation of individual elements, but how they work together.

Responsibility for implementation.

A project plan does not produce results on its own. Roles and authority must be clear, stakeholders must work together and decisions must be made in time. Risks and deviations need to be understood and addressed, not merely documented.

Favoso's role depends on the assignment. We develop concepts and decision-making materials, coordinate specialists and external partners, or assume operational project leadership, combining financial control with technical understanding and a realistic view of the organisation's capabilities.

Original assumptions remain under review throughout implementation. If conditions change, decisions and plans may need revision. Our objective is not perfect adherence to an agreed plan, but the successful delivery of a commercially and operationally viable project.
